Woman seeks £300k
One woman who has contacted road traffic accident solicitors in a bid to get a payout is Natasha Flockhart. According to a report in the South Wales Evening Post, the 20-year-old wants to receive a sum of more than £300,000 in relation to an incident that occurred in June 2008.
According to a claim filed at the High Court in London, she sustained serious head injuries after falling out of a moving minibus. It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle, Julian Bowles, offered her a bottle of Lucozade and as she stood up to accept it, he drove over a speed bump, causing the vehicle to jolt and Ms Flockhart to fall out of the open doors onto the road.
The after effects
Her claim also states that following the accident, she was rushed to hospital in a deep coma with a severe brain injury. She states she suffered from post traumatic migraine headaches and is at an elevated risk of developing epilepsy.
She is seeking damages from Mr Bowles and from his employers Briggs Coaches. According to Ms Flockhart, he was negligent and drove too fast. She also suggests that the driver caused her to remove her lapbelt to reach the drink and failed to warn her of the speed bump.
When contacted, director of the bus firm William Briggs said he was unable to comment on the case.
